Poorly written; Poorly edited. If typo's get to you, then you can overlook this book. There are literally hundreds of misspellings - It's a tad annoying when the typos are referencing to commands. I'm wondering if anyone even proofread the book. Don't get me wrong, there's good content in this book such as, the Backup section of Part 3: File systems and devices - however, the sections on virtualization are of little to no use. Why? well, because the Xen section is useless to those with x86 systems without Hardware virtualization by Intel's VT or AMD's SVM. Xen dom0 doesn't even run on Fedora 9! - What good is an unprivileged domain with no access to hardware? (domU) - not only that, but if you're looking for step-by-step instructions, you're only going to find reference links to official fedoraproject webpages. Yes, I payed $38 dollars to get referenced to a community supported free page online. Part 1 : System Administration was good minus Virtualization, Part 2 : Security was alright minus the section of Intrusion Detection. Why even include a paragraph about Tripwire and AIDE? No configuration specified or how-to, just a vague explanation of the what can be done by would-be attackers. SELinux was well-covered. I would suggest you buy this book used or instead purchase Fedora 9 and RedHat Enterprise Linux by Christopher Negus ISBN: 978-0-470-37362-0. Over a 1000 pages of reference as opposed to some skimpy 400 page book.
All Meat I'm about 1/3 of the way through the book and appreciate the all meat approach. Enough information is present to provide admins examples on how to be proficient with Fedora 9.
