Well worth the price "I didn't find it as good as the reviews would have you believe. It was a good book and it does have some sage advice and interesting parts; some funny parts and some really dull but necessary parts. (I think only an accountant could get excited over the tax chapter.) Mostly I garnered some good advice about what not to do in running a business especially refraining from buying too much wizz bang equipment etc. It was worth the money I paid for it and the time I spent reading it. "
Excellent Sourcebook On Starting A PC Repair Business!!! This valuable sourcebook, 'Start Your Own Computer Business' is essential for people who want to have their own computer store or computer repair shop, in such areas as: ordering parts and supplies, pricing, taking care of your customers, inventory, profits, losses, and expenses. I recommend this great book for those who want to get started in this field, or for those who want to improve in their present PC business.
This is a lousy excuse for a book! First of all this book is NOT geared toward the computer repair business as the Title on Amazon leads you to believe.
Secondly, the author is VERY NEGATIVE. He seems to be trying to discourage as many people as possible from starting a computer business. Every page is another story how things can (and probably will) go wrong. I can understand warning people not to get too optimistic, but this guy goes over the line!
Buy this book only if you want to get depressed and lose your excitement about starting a new business.
Should be half as long or even less This book has 160 pages; 6 are blank, 8 have stupid cartoons on them, 19 are about building custom PCs (which virtually no-one does any more), 41 are about subjects on which Mr Rosenthal is no expert and about 6-10 are full of advice that is so trivial that you don't need to be told it. So less than half of the book has potentially useful information.
There is useful information in there, but all in all there is only enough material for a series of magazine articles - not an entire book.
Excellent Starting point Simply practical... Morris writes out your options, and where to go...Loved it!! He uses some humor in his writing to making it an easy read. Recommended for anyone who is thinking about going into business or already in business!
