Marvelous Mitford Series I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all the books on life in Mitford and would highly recommend them to all readers. The characters are so interesting and I am going to hate to see the series end.
Jan Karon...the best You can't go wrong with a Jan Karon book. She is the only author that I have read and re-read her books. You get to know the characters and they grow and change with each book. I love Father Tim and his relationship with Cynthia. The town of Mitford is a small town with a lot of character. I would love to live in Mitford!
A Light in the Window I happened upon the Mitford Years series at our local library and promptly fell in love with the stories. Our library had every book in the series except "A Light in the Window". thus I was able to read the entire series in a matter of weeks, one after the other. The problem...I wanted more.
The stories are beautifully written - I did think Father Tim, the Episcopal minister was more than a little dense when it came to romance but given the fact he was in his 60's and had never been in love nor been married, I suppose it was understandable to an extent. However, he nearly lost his chance to be with this incredible creative lady he belatedly proposed to.
The way the people in the town are incorporated into the story is beautiful, you come to know and care for all of them.
Beautiful book, beautiful series!
A Light for the Darkness We love the Mitford books. Though, as a pastor, I am amazed at how much one man does and how intimate he is with his congregation, this book serves as an inspiration and heart warming tale. It certainly provides a better light on the clergy.
Don't miss this book I listened to "At Home at Midford" and started to like Father Timothy. Father Timothy reminds me of Paul in the New Testament: fearless, courageous, lovable, kind, self sacrificing, and lonely.
"The Light in the Window" has a very special window of spirituality, as Mrs Saddie shares her miraculous rescue after falling in a old well. A truly surprising addition to the story line which will bring tears to your eyes.
Doolie is becoming a man. Opportunity is available all around him, football, college, tutors, and friends. Doolie struggles with smoking and disobeying Father Timothy leading to the injury of his friend Tommy.
Buck Leaper! Now, there is a character that will make you retreat. Buck is a tough, mean, hard driven man. However, in the end you will discover he is a private individual with an amazing sorrowful story of loss. Buck highlights the possiblity of forgiveness and cause you to have empathy towards the enemy and see him as a real person.
I loved "A Light in the Window". Cynthia, afraid to be hurt, wanting emotional commitment, NY lifestyle, book writer, and cat fan seeks Father Timothy's undivided attention and devote. She gets its.
